Uros Islands Full Day

Description

The community of Uros habitate several small islands on the Titicaca Lake and they have done so during hundreds of years. The habitants harvest totora (a reed) which they gather and unite to form their small platform islands. The villagers are also known as the sons of Mama Cocha that means Mother Lake. They have to maintain their islands by adding new layers of Totora every day, their houses and boats are also made of the same reed.

Itinerary

Day 1: Puno – Uros

The excursion to the floating islands of Uros begins by picking you up at the hotel around 8:45 a.m. and heading towards the port of Puno from where we board the boat that will take us to the fascinating floating islands. During our visit we can explore the island, the typical houses, and souvenir shops, take a boat ride in a traditional totora boat (additional cost), dress us in their typical clothing and take photos with the villagers. After this visit we return to Puno.
