Description
Choquequirao is the second most important archaeological rest that the city of Cusco has and that had connection with the last Inca cities of Vilca bamba as with the Machupicchu through different Inca roads that traveled throughout the Inca empire which we can see in our tour , as well as different settlers who live throughout this area the population of Yanama, glaciers, mines, silver and lead that in the past, were being exploited, until a few years ago. Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Chiquisca
We will leave the city of Cusco, at 6:00 am in the morning, towards the town of Cachora, (2850msnm) and then start with our walk. For about 3 hours to the place called Capuliyoc, from this place in the distance we can see the archaeological rest of Choquequirao, such as the Apurimac canyon, here we will have our lunch. Then continue with our descent, to the camp site. For another 3 hours until reaching Chiquisá.
Day 2: Chiquisca – Choquequirao
After breakfast very early we resume the way down to the Rosalinas Bridge where we will cross. The Apurimac River to start ascending to our first place of rest Santa Rosa, in this place we can enjoy the cane chicha (chambray) then we will continue climbing up to the small town of Maranpata where we will have lunch. With a beautiful view, then we will continue to our Choquequirao camp, (2850msnm) if tourists feel energetic we can visit the archaeological rest in the afternoon to see the sunset, and have a first explanation or else it will be the next one.
Day 3: Choquequirao
This day if we have not had the opportunity to see it a day before we will see it to the fullest since we will stay camping one day there we will be able to tour all corners of the citadel all sectors in the morning and in the afternoon so we can see the sunrise and the sunset in Choquequirao as the flight of the condor that can usually be seen with the sunset.
Day 4: Choquequirao – Cocamasana
This fourth day, after being satisfied to have visited. Choquequirao we will undertake our return trip along the same route through Maranpata. Going down to the Apurimac River and then do our Chiquisca ascent where we can have a cold shower to relax from the heat, and have our lunch, and continue with our climb to the camping area in Cocamasana.
Day 5: Cocamasana – Cachora – Cusco
This day we will continue climbing for about 3 hours to the Capuliyoc viewpoint to see for the last time the Inca construction of Choquequirao and be able to say goodbye, and then we will continue our walk towards Cachora to have our last lunch and say goodbye to our staff that served us, and we will take the bus back to the city of Cusco. And we will leave you at the hotel. End of our services. FOOD: Breakfast, Lunch.
